Even at 65 years how can a man not turn his mind towards God ? Even then he continues to watch TV 6-8 hrs a day.. what a mammoth waste of time ! Will lost time ever be gained? esp this rare and precious human birth.... Marriage, kids, house, travelling, eating and drinking.... all's been seen and done... God has given so much still why doesn't the mind acknowledge it and spend the twilight years of life in serving Him. At least one hour in puja and one hour in knowledge building..

Daityas always wage war against devatas but always lost to them. In Kruta yuga, there was Vishnu bhakti everywhere. In Treta yuga, dharma was on 3 legs. Vishnu dweshis were seen in forests, causing trouble to rishis who performed yagaas and yagnas to please Vishnu. The very nature of daityas is to hate Vishnu and Vishnu devotees. Lord Rama took avatar on earth and started killing them one by one. At the end of that yuga, daityas thought we are always defeated by Vishnu and his followers. In dwapara yuga, let's take birth as the relatives of devatas. Then they would not kill us. Hence Kali was born as Duryodhana, brother of Pandavas, the incarnate of mighty devatas. However as we know, Lord Krishna told Arjuna not to consider them as relatives and kill them since they were adharmic. At the end of Dwapar yug, the defeated daityas met up again. They thought in Kali Yuga, it's a free run for Kali. Dharma stands only on 1 leg. There's no need to physically fight anyone. God will not take avatar in this yug. Let's all be born as brahmins. God loves brahmins and will not kill them. So all the followers of Kali were born as a preacher and preached anti vedic thoughts. They propogated Vishnu hatred in this way. The tamasic people liked such teachings which said there's no God, don't waste your time doing dharmic activities, there's no heaven or hell, whatever you see is only truth, there's nothing beyond this. One other preacher said You are God. This appealed to the tamas / rajas people. So each of us who say I don't have time to do rituals, In this day and age, who will do all this etc... it's a victory for Duryodhan and his brothers... let's not let them win and let the victory be to Guru Madhwacharya and our Lord Madhava.

Everyday A Festival

I offered to write about August festivals for my project newsletter. I discovered that almost everyday is a festival in this month of Shravan !! Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays !

Dasarige Namo Namo

I came to know that today is the 201st birth anniversary of Sri Jagannatha Dasaru. Shraavana shuddha Dwitiya. I found out that one of his son's names was Damodar. That's also my husband's name! One thing I have in common with this great man is that I too belong to Haritas gotra. :-)
Of course that was before I married. Now, I share the same gotra as Sri Vijayadasaru - Bhardwaj !!

Bathing Our Minds

I am beginning to realise why Nithyakarma is so important. Daily pooja, japa, parayana are vital to us. It's like bathing our minds and exercising our memory. Leave the parayana for a week and can't recall it on the 8th day without the help of the book. Must take out time for this everyday no matter how 'busy' we maybe.

HKS

I cannot explain how wonderful Harikathamruthasaara is. I cannot comment on it of course. I have only heard a little and attempting to learn a few stanzas. Sri Sri Satyatma Tirtharu has asked all women to memorise the entire HKS. Let me see how many years will pass in this attempt for me.
Dasaru gives such beautiful examples to make us see the Lord's glory. They are everyday settings which we can apply for anusandhana. Karuna Sandhi alone is enough for a lifetime's study.
